Our second Alumni Speaker Evening was held on Saturday 11th February 2017 in the Bar.
We were again delighted to have four recent alumni return to the Hall to talk to current residents and students about their time at University and how it influenced their current careers over a few glasses of wine and sandwiches.
Our first speaker was Tom Noble, a former Bar Manager and now South West Regional Director for Deloitte who gave some great tips about applications, interviews and using contacts at University to find possible graduate employers.
Current senior resident, Amber Knapp-Wilson gave us lots of information about applying for and studying PhD programmes. She had previously attended the University of Leeds before coming to Bristol to complete her PhD in Biochemistry and gave us an insight into moving location and university and how best to do this.
Amelia Parsons, who whilst at Bristol was on the JCR and also a Senior Resident is now engineering for Arup and showed us some of her incredible current projects, including designing the buildings of the Oman Botanic Gardens.
Finally Veterinary Surgeon, Dr Matt Dickinson, told us how his undergraduate interest in HIV medicine has now turned into studying for his DPhil in Clinical Medicine and HIV at the University of Oxford, including his experience of returning to study after starting work.
Thank you to all those who attended and special thanks to our speakers.
